I have to say – If I like sports betting on NFL, I’m liking the Chicago Bears more and more each day. That’s no big statement – after acquiring Jay Cutler, the Bears clearly became a hot bandwagon team – but what I mean is that I’m ready to elevate them above “sexy sleeper” sports betting status.
I’m ready to call them the best team in the NFC, and here’s why.
For one, the other hot NFC pick – the Vikings – just got a lot less hot. No Brett Favre and even Tarvaris Jackson is hurt, so Sage Rosenfels gets the reins. Hard to imagine him leading a team to a Super Bowl, though I suppose Trent Dilfer did it before.
Back to the Bears. We know the passing game will improve. Many people say Jay Cutler doesn’t have the weapons he had in Denver, but those are fantasy football fans talking. Yes, Jay Cutler himself will probably regress statistically, but he’s a huge improvement for the Bears over what they’ve had in the past or, well, ever. He’ll make guys like Greg Olsen better and maybe even rekindle some magic with his old Vanderbilt receiver Earl Bennett.
We know Matt Forte is a versatile stud running back and the defense, while not that young, should be strong, especially since it’ll spend less time on the field this season with fewer three-and-outs from the offense.
Watch out for the Monsters of the Midway in sports betting this season!
